Drat. The trouble with living with three other girls is that after hours of silence, we inevitably rush towards the shower, bath caddies in hand, in the same three-second span. Hmph. This time I lost, and shall therefore go to French class with a hat on.

I had my skerry light and color exam this morning. I'm not exactly sure how I did. He didn't test us on most of the things that were on the review sheet and homework. There was fuck all about the particle vs. wave nature of light, and that was one of the main points he covered. So. I know some of my math was a little funkadelic, but I'm hoping it was passable and I might only get nickle and dimed. On the plus side, there was more about transverse waves than I expected, and I'm very good at drawing those.

Next on the list 'o stress: grammar special quiz thingie. Making sure I can properly diagram dependent clauses and give the correct function. I get it a lot better than I used to, but sometimes I get mixed up. Mostly because I'm usually convinced that every damn clause on any given test is adverbial. Meh.

Tonight: movie night, on duty, write thank you note to people who pay for me to go to school, and begin my French essay so I don't have to do it over break.

I did get my grammar project book in the mail today, though. I bought Slayer Slang: A Buffy The Vampire Slayer Lexicon by Michael Adams (Intro by Jane Espenson) so that I can discuss the show's use of linguistics and maybe save my grammar grade. I'm also using Reading the Vampire Slayer, which [livejournal.com profile] rozk edited, to segue into each individual character's use of linguistic patterns via their humor styles. And maybe I'll throw a bit or two in about levels of knowlege (i.e. Giles' educated Queen's English vs. the Scoobies' California slang). If there are any essays about this on the internet, could you send me a link, please?

Also, being the English Major/utter geek that I am, the next book on my fannish list that I absolutely must buy is Fighting the Forces: What's at Stake in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, edited by Rhonda V. Wilcox and David Lavery. I want more essayish goodness.

Point of stress three: I like my French professor. But she does things like announce quizzes wherein the students stop by her office for a brief oral exam weeks in advance, and then not remind us from then on. I got to class Friday only to be told that I now had an F in one of my assignment slots. Which sucks ass. I could see if I'd missed a class or something were she'd gone over it, but I didn't. Or if it was even on the syllabus- it wasn't. Most of us were completely baffled. On the plus side, the final, worth 10-15% of our grade, is completely oral. Which is good, because I tend to get nickle and dimed for things like accents on written exams.

My GPA will probably be B/B+/A- for this semester. This makes me very pissy. Still, I've been taking very technically oriented classes, which isn't my specialty. Next semester, I'm back to lit classes, and I'll do much better.

Multi-gip!

GIP #1 - [livejournal.com profile] wisteria_ made the cap for the icon I used for this post.

GIP #2 - I made the blue icon below to match the green one, which I made a few weeks ago. Do you feel the Wes love? :P

That is all. :)

[livejournal.com profile] evergleam83 just perched atop me and made such awful faces that I laughed until I choked.

I choked.

Also? Floyd and Sammie and Terrence and Ross (especially Ross) need to leave my room immediately.

That made sense to exactly three people. :P
