Sep. 29th, 2005 06:51 amUsually, I have something to say about my horoscope. Today, I don't. I don't know very many adventurers. On the other hand, I do know lots of criminals and moody angels. So there's that.
I have a long and exciting weekend ahead. I'm actually going dancing tomorrow night. I haven't done that in over a month-- I miss it so much. I miss the people and the music. I miss dressing up. Saturday, the Lesbionic Sisterhood of Traveling Pantslessness is going to see Serenity, which I'm so excited about that I'm practically vibrating off of my seat. Then there's Veronica Mars, since I get no TV reception in my bedroom, and I missed it last night. Sunday is hang-out time with Sky-- we'll both be poor by then, so I'm thinking we'll probably just sit around on the couch and numb our brains with mindless entertainment. Monday night, Mike and I are going to do something which is as-yet undisclosed. It is not, however, a David Gray concert, but as a heads-up to anyone in the area, he's playing in DC that night (Oct. 3rd). Woe. I really, really wanted to catch David Gray. I'm going to have to get his new album. Come to think of it, I don't have "New Day at Midnight," either. Bad fan, no cookie.
I'm thinking that I'm going to start watching Lost when they start showing re-runs. The thing is that I want to watch season 1 first. I started to watch the first season, then life kind of took over for awhile there. I had play rehearsal and a senior thesis. Sawyer's abs got squeezed out of the mix. So-- I'm either going to rent or Netflix season 1, then start to catch up with what's going on now. My favorite morning show talks about it all the time, and I imagine it's a show I'd really get into.
In the category of things that amuse me very much, Skyler took an immediate dislike to Riley Finn because he's tall. Also because he's from Iowa. Aha.
Speaking of Buffy, for all that Riley was a flawed character (and thank you for that, Marti Noxon), I was always in the pro-Riley camp. The *point* of Riley is that he was not Angel. Angel was tall and dark and broody and Mr. Billowy Coat King Of Pain. Riley was fair and good and funny and kind of a goof, and he mostly tried to do the right thing. I've consistenly maintained that of all of Buffy's relationships, Riley was the most right for her in the long run. Sure, he had issues, but compared to Angel and Spike, masters of guilt and pain? Wrap him up with sparkly Christmas ribbon, he was a prize. I prefer Angel to Riley from a viewer's standpoint, but that doesn't change that he and Buffy are fundamentally unworkable in the scope of the show that we were shown.
And now, before I start billing... ( that irritating animal quiz you people are all going nuts over. )
