Oct. 8th, 2005 11:19 amWhat is your definition of "Magic?"
Magic, to me, is the spiritual component of affecting change. It involves using directed will to change aspects of one's reality. The candles, the oils, the herbs and what have you-- they're all just focusing tools. The real force behind magic is the will and energy you put into it, and also in keeping yourself from sabotaging actions and acting in accord with your goal. IE-- if you're trying to lose weight, casting a weight loss spell will not work if you eat a box of twinkies a day. Magic will only aid your goal if you act in accord.
What do you look forward to this autumn?
Colored leaves. Apple cider. Candy corn. Wearing sweaters and curling up with hot tea. Snuggling up as the weather gets colder. Low-pressure, twilight-fog days when the air smells of rain and woodsmoke and dying leaves.
Does you spirituality change when seasons change? If show, how does it change for autumn?
I don't think it changes so much as it becomes more focused. The beauty of the world is so in your face in the autumn months. I become more attuned, more centered. I also start to weed out the things I could do without in the Autumn, and the crumpled leaves remind me that everything once beautiful fades to brown and falls away. It's sad, but strangely comforting.
Dancing was quite fun last night-- almost the entire crew turned up, and it was good to see faces that I've missed. Boy, am I sleepy today, though. Four hours of sleep does not a happy Chris make. Tonight, after a much-needed nap, I'm having some time with Annabean. I need to go through my college boxes and pull out all of my orange sweaters.
