"Blog Like It's The End Of The World" day was fun. In my mind, the person at the door was [livejournal.com profile] sbrungardt, and we fended off zombies katana-style until daybreak, at which point we rested, and awoke to find the whole thing had been a dream, except that we'd apparently shared it and it was a day later on the calendar than expected. I, unlike some people, do not abandon my significant others to the evil undead. *eyes Skyler shiftily* Okay, so we didn't work out our canon before posting. Next time, we'll do that. At any rate, I was happy to put my new icon to use.

Today finds me busy busy. I spent last night working on "Eve," and it's mostly done. It turned out to be warm, burnished, almost-Autumnal colors. I used goldstone, poppy jasper, copper-dyed pearl buttons, and brecciated jasper. There's a brass leaf iridized green, a handmade gold and red polymer clay apple by the very talented Gabriel, and of course, the requisite snake. I'm really pleased with it overall, but I might re-string it and place the apple a little higher up on the strand. It's heavy, and even though the two strands of the necklace are not supposed to "nest" perfectly, I don't want it to look unbalanced. I mean, it's fine as is. But you know me, I'm a bit of a perfectionist.

But! On the exciting front: I got an editorial write-up on The Nest! I'm not engaged or married, so I'd been totally unaware of "The Knot" or "The Nest" until Sara and Mark both exclamed, "dude, that site is huge!" So. YAY. Exciting. Thank you, Heather! And? One of our clients at work just called to ask if I could make something special for his wife.

This means the Etsy shop will be opened before I have a great camera. At this rate, I need something to organize my stuff that's a little bit more professional than just selling it off my LJ page for friends. That will be my project tomorrow night.

But good things are happening, guys. Good things.

As some of you know, one of my favorite BPAL perfumes, arguably the perfume that started my perfume collection, is BPAL's Blue Moon. I got the 2007 version in this morning, and I'm doing a comparative sniff test.

Same ingredients bolded, different ingredients italicized.

Blue Moon 2004:: The spirit of the full moon is capricious, intense and passionate, yet still distant, aloof and cold. Luna herself governs glamours, bewitchments and dream-work, innocent wonder, transient pleasure and delight, the Moment, impulse, mystery and veils. The Blue Moon is one of her rarest manifestations, and this scent is formulated to encapsulate her most complex and profound nature:
Mugwort and bay, for psychic sensitivity…
Juniper, for divination through dreams…
Orchid and galbanum, for complexity, wisdom and noscere…

… with a potent lunar-charged blend of poppy, calamus, orris, wood aloes, moonflower, cucumber, and pale creeping buttercup.

Review: Clean, clear, crisp, and almost tangy. This is watery but faintly spicy-- my stress automatically evaporated the moment this touched my nose. I definitely smell the bay, and the sweet, wet aloe, plus moonflower. The juniper makes this slightly juicy, as well. Overall, though I generally don't do aquatics or "clean" scents, this is one of my favorite mood-altering oils, and great at busting a migraine, to boot. More reviews of Blue Moon 2004.

Blue Moon 2007:: [Same first paragraph.]
Mugwort and bay, for psychic sensitivity…
Juniper, for divination through dreams…
Orchid and galbanum, for complexity, wisdom and noscere…

… with a potent lunar-charged blend of exquisite Asian woods, moonflower, Madagascan ylang ylang, Florentine iris, Greek cypress, davana, green tea absolute, palmarosa, cucumber, Clary sage, melilot trefoils, wood aloes, and pale creeping buttercup.

Review: Soap. Yep. That's soap. Ylang ylang + iris = soap. Slightly spicy soap, but soap nonetheless. This is not the Blue Moon I knew, nor a facsimile thereof. This doesn't smell particularly unique to me. Nor do I feel the "magic" or "charge" that came out of the 2004 version. I was so looking forward to this one. I'm just... disappointed. I know it might just be my horrible luck with floral notes, but this was not worth a three year wait for me. More reviews of Blue Moon 2007.

...on the plus side, Hermia smells gorgeous. Ditto Robin Goodfellow. Will post reviews of those tomorrow.

Good day.

My boyfriend got me flowers. Two simple stems of stargazers, but they're scenting the whole room.

Simple pleasures. :)
