Happy Friday and Happy Leap Day!
Feb. 29th, 2008 10:34 amHola everybody. It's Friday. This makes me very happy. I still have somewhat of a cough, so I'm going to spend tonight in the house working after I run a couple of errands (like picking up some pretty, pretty ametrine at the post office). Tomorrow, life resumes as normal-- dance class, possibly going out dancing if I'm up to it. I've been trying to wean myself off the codeine syrup, as it gives me bizarre dreams that ultimately leave me feeling unrested in the morning. It's been two days since I had any, which is helping me feel more rested in the morning, but it's really hard to get to sleep while coughing. Blar.
afoundobject is evil and posted about mini-eggs today. Looks like I'll be making a pit-stop into Rite Aid tonight for Easter candy. If I'm lucky, I might even find Robin Eggs. When I was little, I used to lick the colored candy shells and smear 'em over my lips and call them "lipsticks." Naturally, the blue ones were my favorite.
Last night was quite productive. I met up with
neopolaris, and let me just say: her design for my tattoo is absolutely stunning. I was really floored by it. It's big lilies and morning glories all tangled up together on a vine. Lush and just... gah. I knew asking her to design it was a right choice. So now we're working on color palette-- I think I'm going to tweak reality a bit and go for yellow and orange morning glories, so the overall tattoo will be very warm and exuberant. But we're going to play around with it. We'll see.
I worked on a commission last night for
confusednazgul. It's 95% done. As it turns out, I was something like four inches of gold-filled chain short, and so I ordered more from the fastest shipper on my list. Durr. I've got 10 minutes worth of work to do on it once the chain comes in. I also made a really neat little necklace that features chrysocolla and these tiny, gorgeous little poetry beads from Etsy user Field and Sea. It doesn't feature a pendant, and I'm wearing it today to decide if it will need any tweaking. I'm guessing my next update will go live in something like two weeks. It'll feature a lot more brass and gear stuff as well as some funky silver pieces. I'm hoping sales come along nicely, 'cause I'm eyeing some really spendy labradorite and some really rare stones, too. I swear, I only sell jewelry to support my shiny acquisition habit.
In other Etsy news, I do want to pimp the work of two awesome metalworkers I've been drooling over lately. The first is ModernMama, and I finally got my Joan of Arc bracelet in from her. It's delicate and very, very pretty. The second is Deliasthompson-- the coolest thing in the shop is her poetry collection. If you're a writer or want to find a cool gift for a writer friend, you can have snippets of any text you'd like embossed into silver bangles, pendants, etc. Very, very cool. I think I eventually want to try her stackable rings.
Scentwise, today I am wearing BPAL's Defutata-- Olive blossom, honey, smoky vanilla, cinnamon, jasmine, sandalwood, and champaca flower. I'm floored that I can smell the jasmine in this and it is not taking over. It's nicely poised over the olive blossom and honey, but in no way making me smell like either pee or grandma. The vanilla is also very smoky and dark-- this is SUCH a delicious scent, and I can totally see myself buying a bottle of it. This is the first hit I've had from BPAL in awhile. Very, very happy with it.
Speaking of BPAL, I need to update my wishlist in the worst way. I was very ill when the Sugar Moon update went live, and so I missed it. I want to try a few of the Secret Amusements and some of the stuff I passed on in the Lupercalia update. Sounds like a project for a slow day.
Lost did not disappoint last night. Desmond + Penny 4 Eva. LOL @ Faraday's flashback wig. More thoughts when I can brain again, 'cause last night was kind of a whopper of an episode. And hey!The Plague Fisher Stevens!
In conclusion, I have a hot pink donut covered in rainbow sprinkles. Neener.
