Thanks for all the well wishes on yesterday's post. I am enormously relieved, believe you me.
Today, I am not even awake. Seriously. Going to bed at at a reasonable time is not a talent I have. On the other hand, I was very productive. I got all commissions I have the components for done. I added extenders to the necklaces that lacked them. I set up my storage racks for easier, more organized pick-and-pack. I got a ton of laundry done.
I watched the end of Rome, which remained one of the best shows I've ever seen to the end. Spectacular acting, writing, costuming, and set design. There were no hallmarks of the Joss Whedon / mainstream drama syndrome, which is incredibly refreshing because the same old tropes are getting extremely old. Characters lived or died to serve the story, heroes sometimes died ingloriously, everyone was morally gray but with solid motivation and their own internal ethics. Women had agency by and large, despite keeping consistent with the fact that socially and politically, women in ancient Rome were about one rung on the ladder up from slaves. These women had fully fleshed-out internal lives, and they weren't just a collection of dutiful wives, doomed virgins, whores, and tragic deaths there solely to serve the mens' stories. Well, there were some of those things, but being one of the above was never the sole descriptor for the character. They made their own choices just as often as the men, and often with just as disastrous consequences-- at least that playing field was even. I'm really sad there wasn't a third season. And also? Titus Pullo has the sexiest voice ever.
Tonight: packing, organizing key-stuff, rehearsal. I plan on being in bed by 12:30, because my body just can't take any more five hour nights. I am tired enough to drop right now. A nap would be nice.
