At about 4pm on Thursday, May 6, 2004, I asked Racheal to be a part of an informal circle, as she had expressed an interest in getting a runecast related to future fertility. I defined a circle using the petals of a white mum, and then we cast the circle in the name of the elements, each alternating, using incense for air, a siver candle for fire, a ceramic bowl half-filled with water for water, and rock salt for earth. I then read an invocation to Brigid, patroness of fertility and also of creativity. Following that, Racheal and I cast the circle hand to hand, sealing it.

To prepare for the runecast, Racheal and I grounded and centered using guided meditations, and then I had her write out her questions on a clean sheet of paper with a green fountain pen. When she was done, we burned the paper in the brazier, as I asked her to visualize her request as clearly as she could. I consecrated our hands with anise and cinnamon divination oil while she attuned herself to the runes.

We decided on a four-quarters layout, and she chose the runes with her eyes closed after reading a runic incanation to Odin, Urdhr, Verthandi, and Skuld. It was determined that her strengths were physical strength and fertility (uruz, berkana), but that she had issues with doubt (hagall) and would need to do a great deal of spiritual growth before she is ready for a serious relationship (raidho reversed, lagaz reversed). The cast showed that she would indeed have children, but she would not have a longterm mate until after she had done some travelling or physically moved (ehwaz), and that she would most likely meet her mate through connections in the workplace (jara). After she fought her own stagnations (Perthro reversed), she would have a child. Isa indicated to me possibly only one child for quite some time, or a gap between the children. It also indicated that her first child would probably be male.

We then celebrated the simple feast with chai made with milk and honey (for Bridgid), and cookies. I then cut her out of the circle with the traditional farewell greeting, instructing her to pour out the bits of the feast saved for the Goddess upon the earth outside.

After Racheal left, I did a meditation to calm myself for an upcoming performance, asking Brigid to help me to perform to the best of my abilities. After raising energy through dancing, I earthed my excess energy and closed the circle. I gathered the petals and placed them in a bowl of milk that I had consecrated, also pouring them out upon the earth.

The circle is done.
