YOU GUYS. I am holding onto the Earth busy, so I am sorry if I am behind on anything for which you might be waiting on me.

This past weekend was SOCIAL SOCIAL SOCIAL. Racheal was in from the UK and finally brought her boyfriend over for all of us to hug and terrify. Friday was hanging at Aster & Tyler's, Saturday was a big party at Heather & Jess's. I had SO MUCH SANGRIA. Really, I was a giant tipsy smileyface for about 24 hours. (True story: Drunk!Chris loves evvvvvvveryone.)

Had to sober up, and, on 4 hours' worth of sleep, go to my baby sister's high school graduation on Sunday morning. At this point, a big selling point of not having kids is never having to attend another graduation ceremony ever again. They're awful. On two separate occasions, the principal asked for the audience to hold its applause and cheering until all students had crossed the stage, so that each name could be clearly heard as it was being read out. Did that happen? Eff no. Not only were some families cheering so loud and long for their own children that other childrens' families could not hear their childrens' names called, they were acting like they were at some kind of sports event. It was freaking disgraceful and disrespectful and sometimes I just can't stand how absolutely ignorant people in our society can be.

Anyway... was excused from brunch afterwards due to tentative hiking plans, but then those plans fell through, so I basically sat on the couch and felt grumpy because I was tired and irritated but could not fall asleep. Eventually decided "EFF EVERYTHING" and got crabs & shrimp from Reter's and had a little Old Bay feast. That improved my day dramatically.

As it stands right now, I have so much work to do. The VMFA show is next Thursday, and I have about 1/4 of the work left to do-- earwires need to be made, chains must be cut, silver needs to be antiqued and polished. Tags must be written. It's a challenging timetable on its own, but add to that, I have two rush orders to shoehorn in-- one is a pearl-stringing assignment for a local jeweler (as professional-quality pearl-knotting is a relatively rare skill now, I do work for a couple of different jewelers). The other is a labradorite pendant that I thought I had until July to complete, but as it turns out, English is not the first language of the client and he meant June, so I got a "hey, this is going to be ready by Friday, right?" message this morning and proceeded to have a bit of an anxiety attack. He's a nice guy, and it was entirely an accident, but still, it's a lot of stress.

Add to that my general anxiety over the show in general ("It's at a big museum! How am I going to pull this off? I'm not good enough for this. I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy!" etc etc hammering inside my skull nonstop), and I am REALLY REALLY overwhelmed right now. The line itself is mostly affordable stuff-- they asked specifically about my Bollywood Bling products, as this is a tie-in to one of their India exhibits-- but there's a fair bit of some high-end stuff as well, and a smattering of ruby pieces in gold vermeil (14k gold over sterling). The financial output for the collection was immense-- I spent $500 on metals alone. I am hoping it sells well, but I made WAY MORE than I probably need, so what's left will be available on my site afterwards.

Also one parcel of gems for the pieces that are already mostly-completed is MIA somewhere in the bowels of the USPS, and I am tearing at my hair in nervousness and suspense.

As far as dancing goes, after I complete the marathon of work that will culminate in the show, Transcendence is dancing at Pride on the 17th, and Flissy and I were just asked to perform in a bellydance duets showcase to benefit the House Of Ruth in July. More info about that as I get it myself.

There is a lot on my plate. Trying to remember to breathe. If you need me, please text me or patiently poke me via email.

Two random things to add:

1. BPAL is working on official Firefly-related scents, it seems. One of the labbies has tweeted about Inara & Kaylee prototypes. EPIC SQUEE.

2. TWIGS is the middle school after-school program run by my high school, Baltimore School for the Arts. As some of you know, I was part of the TWIGS program for three years prior to my acceptance to BSA, and I don't think I'm overstating things when I say that being exposed to fine arts & performance arts at that particular juncture in my life was in its way absolutely life-saving. TWIGS & BSA had a huge hand in making me both the person and artist I am today, and they are asking for donations to fund students in the program. TWIGS itself is free to the student, but the school requires donations for materials and instructors. If you have any loose change rattling about, PLEASE consider donating to this amazing program, or sharing the link around. (And if you're local, you get a free voucher for Brewer's Art, where I had dinner last night, and it was ammaaaaaazing.) Thank you!
