My February bulletin board:

R-E-S-P-E-C-T
and apartment living
re·spect : n : Willingness to show consideration or appreciation.

Be a smart partier:

Realize that others live around you,
even on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
nights.

Broken beer bottles in the
hallway are not good on a Monday
morning, and no one else should have
deal with the aftermath of your party.

Have respect for others by cleaning
up messes left by your guests, because
they ARE your responsibility.

Respectful Noise Levels:

If the RA can hear your music from
her bedroom onthe top floor
of the building, chances are,
IT'S TOO LOUD.

Noise levels also include people
in the hallway, so if you or your
guests are yipping like chihuahuas
in the hall, just take it inside. Please.
I beg of you.
No, really.
My ears, they bleed.

QUIET HOURS:

Sunday-Thursday
11:00 pm - 10 am

Friday and Saturday
1 am - 10 am

Music is expected to be
turned completely
down by this time.

COURTESY HOURS
(cour·te·sy : n, pl : Polite behavior. )

Courtesy hours
are in effect at all other times.
The fact that it's not quiet hours
DOES NOT MEAN
that you can make the
entire building vibrate with your
awful music
awesome bass.
If we all want to listen to your
music, we'll buy the CD ourselves.
Thanks. :)

-The Management

WHAT TO DO
if someone is being too loud

1. Knock on their door yourself.
Ask them to turn it down.

As many complaints as I get, people
rarely try to take care of problems themselves.
We're all adults, and you have the responsibility
and right to respectfully confront a problem
before you call for other help.

2. Call your RA (Chris) at x8257.
If I'm in, I'll assist you, no problem. However,
I do also *gasp* have a life, and I'm not always
in my apartment. In the case that I'm not in,

3. Call the RA on Duty.
I'm only on duty about seven nights a month.
This does not mean that I won't confront
violations when I'm not on duty, but if I am not
around, the RA on duty will help you instead.
Use the calendar to find who is on duty and
give them a call at their listed extension.

4. Call Campus Safety (x2202).
Only do this if you have done everything above.

Please know that the RAs try to be as fair as
possible, and we do not "pick on" certain apartments.
We confront violations as we see them or are
notified of them. Calling and asking why I didn't take
care of a problem the night before does no-one any good.
It may have been that I was not in the night before
and the RA on Duty encountered no problems
on their rounds.

DEAR RESIDENTS OF BUILDING TWO:
I love you all to pieces. For the most part, this does not apply to you. :)

I wish I could do something fun and snarky like that. But I don't think my residents or my uptight supervisors would appreciate it. Le sigh.

:)

Considering that my residents know I'm about 80% snark, I think they'll take it alright. :)

If I didn't already have a kick-ass RA, I'd want you to be mine. :)

Did you live with three apartments of obnoxious fratboys, too?

Oh yeah.

Freshman year my entry was so awful that we were having hourly Security walk-throughs by Spring semester. Two visiting prospectives got sent to the hospital, among other incidents. Sophomore year I had somehow gotten slotted as the only girl in the Crew team wing (not to knock the Crew team--I loved those guys. They were just...rowdy.) Junior year I was in Prospect, which was also where the Football team had decided to roost. Finally by Senior year I managed to get into Fitch, where we had the computer nerds, the SfCA, and all the other outcasts (such as myself).

Good times, all of them. Only some were more restful than others. :)

Someone should seriously hang that up in my hallway (except the only noise problem in my hallway IS the RA, everyone else is fine).
