Feb. 22nd, 2004 07:52 pmMy computer is driving me nuts, restarting itself every hour or so. It's due to the FAT32 bundle, because it's one of the bugs that comes with the upgrading of ME to XP. I talked to some tech guys, who told me to back up everything on disc to do a "clean install." Mike, is that a possibility on Friday? Or whichever closest day I see you?
Writing papers is hard when your computer hates you.
So. I gave up for a bit. I took a few tests. I've always said that I'm not one for physical types, but studies are showing that we tend to be attracted to a specific 'look.' Looking at my exes, it's much harder to find something in common than ways they are unique, but curiosity got the best of me, so I took the Match.Com test::
MEN
Favorite Qualities
-Your photo choices suggest a man over 35 is probably getting a little old for your tastes (Yes, unless you're Viggo Mortensen.)
-You seemed interested in dating a man at least 30 or older (NO!!)
-Very handsome men
-Full lips
-Sharp, narrow chins
-Narrow and pointed "triangular" faces
-So-called "Ectomorphs," or thin angular faces
Favorite Looks
Some may call one of your types "Pretty Boys," but all you know is that they're gorgeous. The combination of classic good looks with small noses, beautiful eyes, and full lips is hard to resist. These guys tend to be clean shaven, have clear skin, and get good hair cuts. They're taking good care of themselves so they can be "pretty" just for you! [Well, you and the 1 in 3 women (33%) that are also after them!]
(*facepalm* I mean, yeah. I like pretty guys. Those pretty guys are also usually gay. I've never actually pursued a pretty guy. My boyfriend just can't be prettier than me, y'know. I mean, handsome, sure, but I could never date Orlando Bloom.)
Favorite Face Type
You especially liked a pattern scientists refer to as "Ectomorphs." Geometrically, they are similar to triangles, because they are widest at the cheekbones and then narrow to a relatively pointed chin. Ectomorph men are said to have "angular" features, including a chiseled nose and prominent cheekbones. Historically, these faces have been viewed as distinguished and were often found on European royalty. These men also tend to have lean builds.
[And, you may want to watch out for those ears, since on true Ectomorphs, they tend to stick out a good bit.] (BAHAHAHAHAHAHA.)
About 22% of other women especially prefer this face type.
WOMEN
Your Type
Your physical "type" refers to women you find appealing and whom you expect would find you attractive as well. In the test, you picked about the same number of women as attractive as most women who take the test. However, whom you chose was unique.
The choices you made in the test suggest you have strong, automatic preferences for certain types of women. You made your choices quickly suggesting you have clear physical instincts. A variety of features stood out as important to you. This report explores these features in detail. To start, look at the list of features below that were most common among the women you liked. These "turn ons" were noted in different combinations across many of your choices.
(It's true, I have more of a 'type' for women than a type for men. Like Eliza, Salma, Angelina-- sooooo my type. It's the brooding, it really is.)
Your Favorite Features
-Your photo choices suggest a woman over 30 is probably getting a little old for your tastes
-You seemed interested in dating a woman at least 25 or older (no!@#@!)
-Very beautiful women (No denying that.)
-Mediterranean, Latina, and Asian women
-So-called "Ecto-Mesomorphs," with narrow chins and nicely angular faces
-Light brown hair
-Red hair (Hehehe.)
Favorite Looks
You might head to Europe for your next vacation to see more of the "Mediterranean Beauties" you seemed to like in the photo test. These women, from a variety of ethnic groups, share dark hair and an olive complexion. Because of their flawless complexion and very full lips, they have to wear little makeup, which adds to a sense of natural beauty. About 1 in 3 men (30%) share your excellent taste!
(Okay, Spain. Here I come!!)
Favorite Face Type
Faces known scientifically as "Ecto-Mesomorphs" repeatedly caught your eye. Women express this type in two ways. One version has a rectangular face shape that is long and narrow. The other type's face shape is often compared to a diamond or a heart, because it is wide at the cheeks and then has a sharply angled jaw. Ecto-Mesomorph women have either delicate pointed chins or chins that are slightly squared-off or rounded at the base. This "classic" face type is one of the most idealized for women and can be found on most movie and music idols. These women also tend to have lean, but shapely, builds when they're young. About 78% of other women especially prefer women with this face type.
So, maybe there's some truth to the 'angular' face shape thing. But other than that, there were no sweeping generalizations. I tend to be much more attracted to personality in general, to people who don't look like everybody else. Maybe not having a stereotypical type is in itself a type.

Date: 2004-02-23 07:22 am (UTC)Try signing up-- on the upper lefthand bar, there's a preference selector that I assume is for members.
Or wait-- Try here, click on the physical attraction test... skip the intro and do the first few frames. When you get to the part that asks you if you're a member, hit no. The next frame lets you select a preference.
