The weekend of forced relaxation
Mar. 13th, 2011 06:07 pmI ended up going in to work at Terra Firma on Friday. When I got home at about 6, and it was time to do some work alterations, I found that I just could not focus. To the point where I made a few dumb mistakes and wasted some silver and was getting very frustrated with myself. I whined to J that I just could not get it together. Like an awesome husband, he grabbed my face and told me to go read a book or watch a dumb movie, because I was absolutely NOT to work for a whole day. He has a point. I worked several 12 - 16 hour days this week. Wednesday, I worked from 10:30am - 1am with very few breaks. But stuff has to get done. I'm a one-woman business, and even when I don't have my pliers in my hands, chances are I'm ordering supplies or researching a technique or answering customer emails or looking for places to market or or or... I am never not behind on something. I need a packing minion, I swear.
Even when I'm 'relaxing,' I find myself compulsively checking the web for stuff related to work. My brain just does not shut off.
So, he was right, and I listened to my wise husband. I went and watched a dumb movie. Saturday morning, I got up, made pancakes (apple streusel), cleaned the bathroom, and took a nice long bath. I cuddled up with Olivebean on the couch and took an obscenely long nap. I made dinner with Jason and we watched a movie and had us time.
This morning, we got up early to go into Sam's Bagels, where we snagged the last Old Bay bagel, then wandered around the Inner Harbor because the weather was beeeeeyoooooouuuuutttiiiiffffuuuuul. We browsed Barnes and Noble. We priced Kinect units at Best Buy (we're getting one next week for the home workout programs). We saw a tiny bit of
pictsy's show at Harborplace, which was a nice surprise. We watched a giant marathon with thousands of green-clad runners. We candle shopped and did some grocery shopping and then picked up another litterbox for Olive. She's doing okay, but we recently found that she can no longer make it in and out of the litterbox we have in the den, so we got her the same kitten-sized one that we have in her bedroom lair.
I feel refreshed.
My respite is drawing to a close. I have to do some alterations tonight and get packages ready for mailing tomorrow.
Before I go, here are some funny pics from the weekend... ( Kittypix. )
