Went to the library today, and there were a buncha pagan biker guys out front, so we talked for a few minutes. I find myself continually astounded about the number of pagans in Westminster. I got a book by the Dalai Lama, and some philosophy books, and a few books on altars for a special post.

I am planning on having a quiet evening, and hopefully it will be a productive one. I got Practical Magic on DVD to watch tonight because I absolutely love Sandra Bullock-- I think she's one of the best and most naturally beautiful stars in Hollywood today. Plus, from all accounts, she's a really decent person, and I am completely enamoured of her. I finished the book Practical Magic today, and I found it to be okay, but not particularly magical. I saw the movie a long time ago, and the details were very fuzzy, but I think they changed the plot a good deal, and probably for the better. I wrote up a mini-review of the book here. Also, fans, there is a very awesome PM site on the web, so go check out Amas Veritas. I'm going to be screencapping the movie as well for icon purposes, so if anyone has requests of the screencap or icon variety, please leave them and I'll do as best as I can to fill them.

Michael and I have a Dave Matthews Band concert to go to tomorrow-- on my wishlist of songs to hear: Crush, Crash Into Me (I've never heard it live), #36/Everyday, Bartender (Again!), #41, Stay or Leave. Plus they'll be doing new material. Eeee.

On Thursday, I'll be going with [livejournal.com profile] sunflwgal to hear Janet Farrar talk about her new book with Gavin Bone at the Turning Wheel in Baltimore. Heads up: I called to confirm, and even though it wasn't listed, the talk is $25 a head. It would have been nice if that was said upfront, but I at least reserved two slots for Toni and I. Toni, if this is a problem, maybe I could help pay your way in exchange for gas money? But whew, an expensive little venture, considering that I was gonna buy the book and a few other supplies.

Friday, provided I can get Kyle to let me come in and leave early, I'll be headed to the beach in Jersey with Rac and Heather. It'll be a girl's weekend, and that is of the good. Plus, I get to meet Rac's infamous Jewish grandmother.

Money, money, why hath thou forsaken me?? Mmm, but at least I have chocolate-covered espresso beans.

When Janet and Gavin came to town they held a weekend intensive that was $100 I believe. I missed that one, but they will probably be back.

We have a lot of workshops here with Freya Aswynn if you're ever interested -- she happens to be a friend of a friend so she visits here often.

I think the only resemblance between PM the book and PM the movie is that they were both written in English ;)

Wish I remembered the movie well enough to request a screencap. Any good shots to be had when Nicole Kidman is raising eyebrows during the PTA meeting?

We saw Dave Matthews Band on Saturday and it was wonderful. Nice mix of old and new -- 3 new songs, I think, and a good variety from past albums. Plus this amazing improvised scat/rap thing from Dave. Have fun!
