Mike brought up a Dell computer for me to use. This, however, is a dilemma for me. The Dell was his late grandfather's and it's rather precious to him. Our school's server is awful, and even without opening up strange emails, it's quite possible that at some point, there will be viral issues. To boot, I don't have $40 right now to buy a new Norton anti-virus so I can register it for the internet. In short, I don't want to use the Dell unless I absolutely have to.

My computer has stopped re-booting for the time being. It has not re-booted in a week. It is still on the slow side, but I can deal with that. However, I need a word-processing program. Microsoft word or works... WordPerfect... I don't care. I need something to write papers with and continue work on my novel, the anticipation of which is nearly eating me alive.

So-- what is the cheapest price that I can get a word processing program? Where can I get it? I'm desperate, people. Anything with a spell checker will more or less work.

Ack! So I downloaded it, but I can't figure out how to turn off the feature that automatically fills in a potential ending for a word until you are finished typing it. It's so distracting! How do you turn it off?

I use the free version of AVG anti-virus. Nice, simple, efficient, free. It picked up stuff that Norton didn't.

The only problem is that my school requires Norton to register for the internet. Well, there's another option, but I can't remember what it is... but you get the impression that it's all a moneymaking scheme. I may download that just to have it around, though.
