On Autumn and Icon Making (+ Requests)
Sep. 21st, 2004 11:13 amThe makers of Village Candle have had quite the brainstorm. In their jar candles, there are two wicks. That way, there is not lots and lots of excess wax around the edge of the jar, so the candle burns prettier, cleaner, and just as long. Village Candle is just as heavily-scented as Yankee (albeit in fewer scents), and about 1/3 the price. I curently have Spiced Pumpkin burning, and it is heavenly, a perfect compliment to my chai tea.
I am eager for the smells of Autumn. About a month ago, I went on a tart-buying extravaganza. Scents that I currently have: Harvest, Pumpkin Pie, Spiced Pumpkin, Nutmeg & Cedar, Witch's Brew (a patchouli-like scent), Macintosh Apple. All this, plus Gingerbread will be out as a seasonal. I'm dying to try Bath & Body Works' Pumpkin Face Mask. I've never done masks before, but this smells good enough to eat. And I will soon be whipping up some Autumn Pancakes, with cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and just a hint of cardamom. Since I lost chapter 2 of my novel when last my computer died, I will be re-writing it. And I can't wait to go leaf-picking for my altar. I have a bowl of delicious gala apples by my bedside and cider in the fridge.
And I think I'm going to start making icons again.
I've had a few requests for Autumn/Halloween/Samhain icons since my site shut down, and I have them backed up on disc... the only issue is that that disc will not read on this computer. I will take it with me to the library soon, so I can upload those icons for whomever would like them. In addition, this Friday, I will probably be making some more icons, so if you have a favorite Autumn/Pagan/Halloween/Moon image that you would like an icon from, shoot me a link, with any text or color specifications you may have. I have to also do seasonal wallpapers for Pagan@OSN-- with my recent computer woes, I had been unable to do September's assignment.
I might start doing Buffy icons again-- I've seen (and uploaded) a lot of fun Bad Girls-themed ones, so maybe I'll start looking to build my caps collection again. I want some more Secretary icons, and Garden State, if I can only find good cap sources.
But first-- I have a busy workweek. I have a reaction paper due at 3pm, a presentation tomorrow, and a paper on Faulkner's As I Lay Dying due on Friday morning.
