It's amazing just how much scent affects mood. Right now, I'm wearing Black Phoenix's Sin, which is all sandalwood and and patchouli and a sweeter undertone-- like amber. It's ridiculously sexy, very mysterious. Almost edible. The thing about BPAL oils is that unlike your general perfumes, they don't just smell good. They completely inspire the imagination-- I mean, where else can you just open a bottle and have the experience of being in a medieval feasting hall? Sadly, this morning, I realized that my sample of Sin is already half-empty-- it will be next on my bottle list. I've got two bottles on order right now as it stands-- one of Samhain, and one of Titania, a white fruit and floral combo. Even with all the fun scents I'll have to play with soon, but I have to say, I'm absolutely in love with Sin. I wish shipping didn't take in excess of a month, and I never see Sin 5mls on the forums. Eh, c'est la vie. It's a shame I don't live on the West Coast. Not only is Black Broom one of the finest occult stores in the country, but they now host the full BPAL line and then some exclusives.
I've decided only to buy a few perfume bottles as Christmas gifts-- picking a signature scent can be very difficult, and I tend to have much better luck with things like jewelry, anyhow. So I figure that my next order will be late October so I get it in time for Winter Break here at the school. I'm already drooling over the Yule scents that the lab offers-- apparently they might bring back a limited edition called Snow White that smells like freshly fallen snow.
My scent wishlist has gotten completely out of control. Still, for my own sanity, I've narrowed it down to scents I absolutely must try first.
Alice:: (honey, milk, carnation)
Bewitched:: (berry, sage)
Black Phoenix:: (BPAL's signature scent)
Bliss:: (pure chocolate)
Blood Kiss:: (vanilla, honey, clove, cherries, vetiver, wine, musk)
Dana O' Shee:: (milk, honey, grains)
Depraved:: (patchouli, apricot)
De Sade:: (leather)
Dream Formula I: Oneroi:: (not sure, but the description sounds amazing)
Eclipse:: (almond, vanilla, heliotrope, spices)
Greed:: (patchouli, heliotrope, copal, oakmoss)
Hollywood Babylon:: (strawberries, vanilla)
Old Glasgow:: (heather, blackberries)
Sea of Glass:: (light, fresh scent)
Tamora:: (amber, heliotrope, golden sandalwood, peach blossom, vanilla)
The Coiled Serpent:: (kundalini chakral blend)
Velvet:: (sandalwood, cocoa, vanilla, myrrh)
Vice:: dark chocolate, black cherry, orange blossom)
Mm. I'm big with the amber, the sandalwood, the sweet foody scents. I love the richness.

Date: 2004-10-15 08:21 am (UTC)For me, a Peach sense settles me down in times of stress. I know the source of it and don't feel like revealing it, but nevertheless... it's nice.
Just admit the source is Super MarioCart. :P

Date: 2004-10-15 03:38 pm (UTC)I think it'd be easier to get someone in the LA area to go out and buy oils. It'd get here faster, plus it's the same price, just have to add 8.5% sales tax (unless they've recently changed it or something). Actually, now that I think about it, the $6.50 the Lab charges would cover $3.85 Priority Mail, bubble wrap, and sales tax.

Date: 2004-10-16 09:58 am (UTC)If you do need to go through some middle man money order thing, could I sometime jump on board one of your ordering sprees and give you money (including extra for shipping and such) for something?
See you on Tues!
