How's that for a catchy title? Don't worry, it will make sense soon.

So, today was another awesome mailday. I got a care package from my mom. Yes, you read that correctly. My mom. Complete with a declaration of pride. So. Am I in bizzaro land or what? And then I got packages from [livejournal.com profile] pekeana and [livejournal.com profile] shewaselectric. Becky sent BPAL-- Helping Hand is a Peppermint Patty, and as weird as that sounds, I wanted to drink it, it smelled so awesome. Mars is all cinnamony, June Gloom is guh. Just guh. Sweet grass. And there were a few others-- Khepera and Yerevan. :) Yas sent samples of Villainess & Toadstool soaps. The brown sugar one smells fan-frikkin'-tastic! Thanks so much, you two!

Work went well, and my papers for Psyche's class got turned in on time. What's better, she cooked. Juicy, falling-off-the-bone chicken, fried plantain, rice. Mmm. The madrigal dinner is tomorrow, so after a brief rehearsal, I zipped off to the art studio.

I posed for the adult class tonight-- it was neat. There were only four people there, and I did not move a muscle for over an hour until I had my first break. I thought I was going to be nervous, what with the nudity and all, but I was very relaxed. It's amazing the things you think of when you can't move. I went over grocery lists, exam schedules, jury pieces... it gave me a very Virgoan sense of calm. The results were pretty good-- one woman did just my torso up, and the facial likeness was stunning. She missed my birthmark though, the one on my left cheek by my mouth. My favorite birthmark ever, without which I would not be me (which is why I favor my left profile to my right). And hey, $25 for two hours. Not bad. I'll be buying part of my mom's Christmas present with it. Heh.

And then, I went to an interest meeting for a campus production of The Vagina Monologues. It was very informal, just a read-through. I read "My Short Skirt," although I think the moaning one seems like soooo much fun. And my vagina was happy.

I am now on duty. I have a madrigals crest to finish and 5 more pages to tack onto my Faulkner paper before I edit the whole shablam. Which means I need to find my drafts. Eeep.

Helping Hand I love -- and June Gloom is just... guh, indeed. :) [And Mars is dragon's blood, not cinnamon. *grin*]

I did "My Short Skirt" last year here! but yes the moaning one....wow... it takes hella balls that I wish I had. But me being me I preferred being the only one who got to run around in a short skirt. That doesn't sound very feminist of me.hmmm. But I remember it clearly....
MY SHORT SKIRT IS NOT AN INVITATION A PROVOCATION AN INDICATION.....!!!

I think I need to read The Vagina Monologues. I actually can't believe I haven't read it yet!

When I get my life back, I want to scan one of my sketches from the figure drawing class I took and share with you. I think it's really cool that you are modeling.

I'm glad you had a good time modeling. I've always wanted to take a live modeling class to round out my art training, but never could take one in college because I wasn't an art major, and getting to take art classes without being an art major was nigh impossible. The closest I got was my AP art class in high school which was at a local (well local for Detroit; a 45 minute bus commute) university. One class they had a girl model for us, and she stayed fully dressed. Still it was a good class and I learned lots.

Art is fun.

And that title is what you call "Drawing the reader in".

I'm trying my best to think only of the artisitc integrity of the modeling experience.

and failing :P

Dammit. Why do they have to wait and do TVM after I'm gone? Jerks. ;)

Oh, wow. How weird! I'm in the Vagina Monologues as well! We just had our first readthrough last night!

(I'm a bit part, really, I just get to read "A Not So Happy Fact About Vaginas" and the intro to the moaning one (hee, the girl who does that one is amazing! which sounds so wrong...) but it's still so fun.)
