Tell me your correspondences.
Aug. 31st, 2005 12:55 pmThis is not a list of favorites. In the Craft, I have found that often, people are drawn to working tools, concepts that closely embody their energy. These objects and concepts include stones, elements, seasons, and so on. I'm in the process of discovering my correspondences. Some things are new, some I've always known.
My sign: Virgo (with Aries).
My season: Autumn.
My stones: Amber, bloodstone, carnelian.
My metal: White gold.
My element: Earth.
My colors: wine red, harvest orange, lapis blue.
My fruit: red grapes.
My animal: I don't have an animal at this point.
My tarot card: The High Priestess.
My number: 9.
My herbs: mugwort, jasmine, basil, bay, nutmeg, vanilla bean.
My flowers: stargazer lily, red rose, dendrobium orchid.
My runes: Dagaz, Nauthiz, and Pertho.
What are your correspondences? What other categories can you think of?
August 31, 2005: Sacred Symbols and Spaces
Are there any symbols or symbology that are significant or special to you? (runes, shapes, symbols created by you) Why is it special to you?
Spirals are significant to me because they're ever-moving, seeming to shift in form, and yet at some very core, they never change. The core shape remains the same. Everything comes full-circle in the end. It's a good thing to remember.
Other than that, I have three significant runes. There is Nauthiz, which represents sacrifice and restraint (has connotations of love). I think it's shaped many of my relationships, and the way I interact with those who I am more emotionally invested in.
Pertho was my first personal rune-- the rune of hidden things that will come to light and occult knowledge. I think of it as my seeker rune, and one that I use in my own workings fairly often.
Dagaz is my third personal rune. It's the rune of the crossroads-- walking between worlds, more or less. It's the rune of twilight and dawn, the in-between times. In my life, I ofen feel in-between paths... never fully one thing. But in its way, it reminds me to hope.
What does your special place of worship look like? (altars, sacred space inside or outside) Can you provide a picture?
My altar is about to be switched to a Harvest altar. It will be decorated with silk autumn leaves and silk flowers (as soon as I get to the craft store!), as well as harvest corn, when it comes in season. I will have my usual incense, athame, and candles. I will switch to a pinecone for Earth, though, and a dish of saltwater rather than beach stones and shells. I ahve pictures from years past, and will likely post new ones soon.
How have these symbols and sacred spaces transitioned over time?
They haven't much, actually. The spiral is new, but the others have been with me for years now.
I think I'm going to start doing beading again. I want to try wire coil. I recently brought a gorgeous beaded bracelet in peridot green, wine purples, and amber gold. It almost looks like a bangle bracelet, only in rich, jeweltone colors. I could probably make very similar ones, perhaps to sell. If you'd be interested in some cheap custom beadwork while I test this theory, drop me a line.
