Le weekend

I have not looked at a computer since Friday morning. Dudes, I am not going to read my LJ at skip: ten million. So, y'know, if something happened that I should know about, wave and yell. But really, it was a good weekend. I left my phone at home, I got enough rest, and I mostly succeeded in only chillin' with the bf, whose face I never seem to tire of.
Thursday night, I went out for drinks with work peeps to send off Adam, whose last day with the company it was. I went home, I made a really pretty garnet necklace, I watched TV, I passed out. Friday, I slept in and caught up on my Jossverse comics. Jason and I met up in the afternoon and made a huge dinner-- steaks, potatoes, green beans, corn on the cob, chips and fresh guacamole. I drank most of a bottle of riesling; we watched lots of Supernatural and set off explosives in his yard.
Saturday, we curled up for awhile before heading out to Westminster to have brunch at the Pour House before driving out to Hashawha, where J used to be a camp counselor. We had a pretty walk and ended up at the raptor cages, where they keep injured birds for educational uses-- we saw kestrels, horned owls, black vultures, red-tailed hawks, and a big, powerful Bald Eagle. After that, it was down to DC to hang out with Kevin & Liaa-- I'd thought it was going to be just us, but there was a sizeable gathering going on. Despite my social exhaustion, though, it wasn't bad, and I didn't feel drained when we left. I've been feeling more introverted as of late and I've been doing my best to keep group-oriented social stuff to a minimum; I'm sure this is a stress thing, but I'd like for it to be over soon, please and thank you. Anyhow-- Jumper? It doesn't have an ending. I disliked it bunches. And Hayden Christiansen should never be allowed to act ever again.
Sunday, J and I planned our trip down to the ocean at the end of the month-- we're hitting up Ocean City for a few days, then Assateague so he can surf for a bit. We made some brunch, then packed up for a hike. We ended up at Cunningham Falls near Catoctin, and we did the more difficult trail, climbed the falls, shimmied out a fallen tree over the falls, and then did some off-trail hiking. We found this neat little shell that looked like the foundation of a very old house. The crab shack was a bit disappointing this time around, as the July 4th weekend had completely cleaned them out of Blue Crabs. We had to make do with Alaskan King Crabs, which-- let me tell you-- are nowhere near as good. But we salvaged it with a trip to The Cow for a shake. Also?
All in all, good weekend; sad it's over.

Dear JJ Abrams,
Re: Cloverfield
I get that you dig the whole ambiguity thing, but that was only half a movie. If you end Lost that way, I will personally drown you in a lake of Jack's tears.
No love,
Christina

Date: 2008-07-07 06:59 pm (UTC)Can you let me know when you send out Katherine? Our mail's been a bit wonky, so I'm trying to keep track of things that should be coming and roughly when they should be arriving. Thanks :)

Date: 2008-07-07 10:02 pm (UTC)No, no they aren't. I've told people up here about the wonders of Chesapeake Bay Blues but the only ones who believe me are the ones who've experienced them for themselves already. Some of my fondest memories of living in Baltimore when I was a kid are of eating large amounts of crabs. :-)
