Virgo:: Pregnant giraffes give birth standing up. Babies arrive in their new environment with a jolt, hitting the ground after plummeting six feet. Although they were fairly safe before, upon leaving the womb they are in danger of being preyed upon by animals like leopards and hyenas, which wouldn't dare attack their giant mothers. I'm thinking there's a resemblance between the newborn giraffes and a new project you're working on, Virgo. Its initial splash into the world may be a bit rocky and fraught with dicey challenges. But I'm here to say that if you're a vigilant caretaker in the early going, it will grow to maturity.

Didn't get as much as I had hoped done last night, as my stomach began to revolt. Dude, I have no idea what its issue has been lately. But it made concentrating on anything completely unworkable, and I gave up and toss and turned for a bit. Had crazy pregnancy dreams (how apropos, Rob) and woke up to the news that one of my friends had begun contractions and that Beth from the Lab had her baby. Also woke up to find myself kind of dizzy; the changing of the seasons means my inner ear is all wonky right now and if this keeps up, I'll need a prescription for Meclizine. Oh, little blue pill of magical non-spinny-ness. I think I might leave work early today. I contemplated calling out, but figured I'd come in to get routine stuff down since we've been busier of late.

All of this means that the update might be tomorrow, but if it doesn't go up tonight, I'll post a teaser.

Congratulations to your birth-giving friends. And to whatever giraffes who may also be experiencing the same.

Didn't sleep well myself, so I'm with you there. Here's to a better night's rest tonight for both of us.

My stomach started getting wonky over the past year or so, and it took me awhile to figure out that 1. My slight egg intolerance has become almost an allergy 2. I have become allergic to mushrooms since I stopped eating meat (I know, weird, right? I can't find any info on such a phenomenon, but I swear it's true.) and 3. I've developed a mild case of lactose intolerance (one bowl of skim milk with cereal is my limit, god forbid I should drink any whole milk.) I only mention this because you had talked about perhaps having developed lactose intolerance (the cheese sandwich thing the other week) and apparently it can pop up around our age. Oh also, I can only handle caffeine at certain times of the month (it would seem that as part of my pms now I produce more acid and that plus the caffeine makes for a sour stomach that gives me anxiety (like having constant butterflies) during which I can concentrate on nothing. Fun times.) Can't drink coffee at all! Anyway, I realize this is all probably tmi but you might consider it to be one of these things (not specifically the mushroom thing, but maybe a food allergy of some sort). I used to have no stomach probs whatsoever, I could eat anything and then bam, random incidents started occurring. It was/is very irritating. I always end up coming to your journal and writing massive paragraphs, which is embarrassing, but this one is at least somewhat useful me thinks. At least I hope so. :P
