I've found a restaurant on par with The Melting Pot for sheer fun. Ashley, Brock, Heather, Rac, & I went to Sakura this evening for some Japanese food. I should have known I'd like it, seeing as "Sakura" translates to "cherry blossom," and cherry blossoms are one of my favorite things in the history of ever.
To start off, the service is really as bad as rumored. However, next time, we'll have come at a better time or made a reservation to avoid a 40-minute wait and an additional 20 or so because they forgot to call our table. But past that, it really is quite fun. A chef comes directly to your table to put on a show-- bouncing eggs on a spatula, turning onion rings into a tiny fire-spewing volcano, slicing and dicing faster than your eye can follow. It was a bit like watching the food equivalent of Cirque du Soleil. Ashley took most of these pictures, but since her journal is friends-locked, I stole a few for this post, resizing them for my journal.

The pink drink is called Sakura. It was creme of almond and cocoa flavored-- just heavenly. The brown drink was the Fujiyama-- rum, creme of coconut, pineapple. Also very good.

So there you have it. I can't wait to go back. And between this, the tiramisu Bridget brought, and the espresso brownies Anna brought, I'm in serious trouble! :)
