The Great Makeup Experiment, Days 3 and 4:

Day 3: Sparkling Neutrals. Aromaleigh eyeshadow in Gilt, Stila eyeshadow in Sun and Venus. Black liquid liner (rather hastily applied), and black mascara. Nothing else. Literally. I was fresh from the shower and still in my birthday suit.

Day 4: Purple Haze. Aromaleigh eyeshadow in Lavande and Penelope, Urban Decay eyeshadow in Last Call. The usual black eyeliner/mascara. Sorry, no full face, as I was running very very late! Instead, I give you a bonus shot of Jason's new haircut.

It's the only shade I have. I gotta say, I'm not very adventurous with my eyeliner. Maybe I'll get a dark brown?

i don't know, in the other makeup photos, you don't have it on and you look hot. i'm not saying you look bad! i'm just saying i don't really dig it in the first look.

I do, actually. I think the difference is in the top one, I'm wearing a liquid liner instead of just my plain black pencil. It's a little bit more -bam- inyoface. But I agree, the contrast with the neutrals is pretty drastic.

yeah, i was gonna say that if you're wearing it in the others, it's gotta be a pencil or smudged in really, really good.

I think your eyes look really pretty with black eyeliner, but I bet something like Stila's smudge pot would really be amazing-- it has the intensity of liquid eyeliner but, well, you can smudge it.

looking pretty, lady.

on a side note, i'm totally loving these makeup posts. my eye makeup is always so boring; if i actually had good stuff and somewhere nice to go, i'd totally copy you. especially that gold one from the third. sooo beautiful.

Um. Well. I'm not sure yet. I'm liking the trying out a buncha colors. But some of the lighter colors are chalky and don't seem to want to blend well. The lighter purple (lavande) had to be re-done once I'd done my crease colors because it flaked off somethin' fierce. But other shades have been great. So I think it's case by case... but at least they have a decent samples program for you to try before you buy a full size.

Those glasses really do frame his face well.

(Gah, stupid ENTER button.)

Your skin is absolutely luminous in the full-face day 3 picture. WOW. You need to take more pictures fresh out of the shower more often!

Erm, you know what i mean.

I'm the worst at having anything valuable to say about one kind of make-up or another.

But this is the first time I've seen that icon of you and it's well chosen -- absolutely gorgeous shot of you.

Did you get the F&F code for 30% off at urbandecay.com? I don't need any more makeup but I am eyeing the cream eyeshadows.

Just adding to the "lovely, very pretty" comments... because, well, duh. You are. :-)

You've got really clear, wide-open eyes that have a very clear color to them. You don't need a heavy liner to make them stand out. It works anyway, but as long as you're experimenting I'll add my vote for the "try something new" crowd.

And I'll add as a theatre-makeup person with blond hair that especially with the light eyebrows you really should try a medium brown eyeliner, and wether you use liquid or pencil, stick with the format you're comfortable with so you're not messing with a new application technique. Ditto for the mascara. You're using thin lines and as light a touch as possible, but I'm guessing a brown would enhance some of your other natural colors, especially if you go without a base.

Liquid liner is such a bitch to apply. I rarely use it these days. I'd highly recommend Smashbox cream liners with their pointed angle brush - it's an incredible combination. Lasts all day, is smudgable or can give a liquid effect and applies in seconds. I use Nars black shadows mixed with water for a similar effect.

I like experimenting with different colours for liners. Brown is a good staple for day time if you feel black is too harsh for that particular morning, but navy blue and plum really make the whites of your eyes sparkle and a dark hunter green can look lovely, too. I've been loving a very dark gold/black from Smashbox called "on Trend".

Very pretty colour combinations - really make your eye colour pop.
